A while back, Liz (a SUPER sweet lady) asked me to create a logo for her lip salve product. She wanted something that could be described as lovely and charming...and with an adorable name like 'Kiss Me Sweetpea', we just couldn't resist using silhouettes (man, I'm just on a roll with these silhouettes!) and banner motifs in bright kelly green and pink..all within a seal of approval! Here's the recently finished logo.
I'll be gone for a week starting Monday and most likely won't be able to post anything until I get back. Have a safe + wonderful week =)
I carry a special fondness for silhouettes. They are a bit mysterious, a bit whimsy, and so much fun to create! Here's three custom silhouettes I made recently. These are more stylized illustrations based on the actual photos their mom sent.
Lately, I've been noticing a ton of gorgeous 2010 calendars being circulated around the blogosphere....but this one (from Postal Press) in particular caught my attention! I love the 'specimen figure' themed illustrations paired with a classy and crisp typeface! Reminds me of this antique nature book that belonged to my grandfather.
My friend and her husband have this tradition which I thought was so incredibly and adoringly sweet. Whenever she is on call overnight at the hospital (she's a pediatric resident), her husband writes a letter for her to find when she comes home. So when he contacted me to create a set of personalized letterpressed notecards for him to use, I was more than happy to help out! I hope my husband is reading this because it would be REALLY sweet if he wrote me love letters TOO! *ahem! hint-hint*
This tree theme was also used for their wedding suite, so it has a special meaning for them =)
Have you ever had one of those sleepless nights where your body is super tired yet your mind is just whirling away? Well, that was me last night. Since I was up till 2:30am, I decided to revisit Mr. Boddington, a personal favorite stationer of mine. I was thrilled to see their gorgeously updated website AND new blog. I didn't end up going to bed until 4am! Hurry and go have a look of their latest =)
Last Friday, I had the opportunity to meet up with the owner of Studio on Fire, Ben Levitz in Minneapolis. He showed me and my husband around the studio and let me just say this....when I saw that wall covered with all their letterpressed pieces, my eyes glazed over and felt like I was in design heaven! Even my husband discovered a new found respect for letterpress studios and for a split second, he considered giving up his medical career to become a printer. Haha! right. Studio on Fire was beyond what I imagined to be! Thanks Ben for the tour! And don't forget to check out their blog here!
And now time for me to shut up and show you some pictures:

This is the part where my eyes glazed...
And this is what made my husband's eyes glaze over...those beer cans!
Sadly, our mini-break in Minneapolis is coming to an end =(. I absolutely love this city and all that it has to offer. We will miss all the yummy eateries, local coffee + pastry shops, museums, and shopping. I do have one last stop to make before we head back to Iowa and I am SUPER excited about this one last visit tomorrow....can you guess? here's a hint: they have a very well read letterpress + design blog called Beast Pieces...
If you haven't guessed by now, I am getting a tour of the super awesome Studio on Fire! I am just so excited to meet Ben and his staff and can't wait to share the experience with all of you after the weekend!
I am not a maternal person and I never imagined myself wanting kids until I saw Stella McCartney's new line for Gap Kids today! My husband and I went shopping earlier and passed by Gap and saw the ad for Stella's new collection. I checked it out and OMG - TOO scrumptiously cute! Totally love the band jacket!
